About the Civil Protection Association

The Civil Protection Volunteering Association was established after the earthquake happened in the North of Italy and the flood happened in Florence in 1966.

It is the biggest association and counts 800,000 volunteers.

The citizens came up with the idea of creating this association to help people in need and have an organisation that can supervise anyone who wanted to help.

The main roles of volunteers for this association is to help in every kind of event and emergency along with protecting the environment.

Additionally, they also help in case of fire and flooding.

"Being a volunteers means giving"- said one of the volunteers at the opening of the Holy Door- "even if we cannot donate in a meterial way we can donate our time."

To become a volunteer, you need to be older than 16 and attend training sessions. This association is also linked with many other organisations, like the Scouts.
